How a book gets on the shelf

Someone finds it, reads what it actually is, and checks the price on the page rather than trusting a roundup. Three things have to be true before it gets listed.

• The whole book is free. Sample chapters are not free books. If the first four chapters are free and chapter five is a paywall, it does not go on the shelf.
• It is free to everyone. A book that is free inside a subscription is not free. Those are the easiest ones to get wrong and they get checked hardest.
• A person wrote it. The cozy fantasy community's own events bar AI-generated manuscripts and covers, and this site holds to the same line.
